Highgate Golf Club

Highgate Golf Club, established in 1904, is a parkland course nestled on the northern side of Hampstead Heath in London, England. The club's history traces back to the 'Highgate and East Finchley Golf Club', founded in 1904, with the 'East Finchley' part dropped in 1906. The initial layout was by Billy Winton, with refinements made by Cuthbert S. Butchart between 1904 and 1905. Butchart also went on to design the original layout of the Berlin-Wansee Golf Club. A significant change to the course came in 1928 when the Metropolitan Water Board acquired land for a reservoir, leading to a modified layout that is essentially the present course. Highgate offers a hilly, tree-lined challenge, rewarding creative shot-making on its undulating terrain. While not a lengthy course at around 6,033 yards from the back tees, its design provides a stern test.
